The Scarlett: A Simplistic and Elegant Residential Design

Creating a Pure and Clear Space with a Light Luxury Aesthetic

The Scarlett, designed by Chih Hsiu Sung, is a residential project that embodies simplicity, elegance, and a light luxury aesthetic. With its pure white background and a blend of gray, black, and milk tea colors, this design creates a peaceful and rustic atmosphere. The use of delicate lacquer surfaces and a fusion of exotic materials adds richness and depth to the space. Let's explore the unique properties and technical specifications of The Scarlett.

The inspiration behind The Scarlett is to create a space that exudes simplicity and elegance. The designer has infused the space with clear and pure qualities, using various material changes to add depth. The gentle arc shapes and strict straight lines convey love, affection, happiness, and playfulness, making this design truly unique. When the warm daylight falls through the window screen, the pure and clear air develops a healing power, creating an exclusive and intimate home.

The Scarlett stands out with its unique color palette. The designer has used a combination of white, gray, black, and milk tea colors, with bright orange accents to create highlights. This blend of colors creates a sense of clarity and injects a light luxury aesthetic into the space. The design of the display cabinets for the client model collection adds warmth and layers to the overall spatial experience.

Technologically, The Scarlett incorporates various materials and techniques to bring the design to life. The use of amber mirrors, titanium-plated metals, low formaldehyde building materials, Inova veneer, baking paints, terrazzo, and other elements adds depth and texture to the space. Italian Marcopolo art paint, stone-grained materials, and radiant gold brushed surface system plates further enhance the design's aesthetic appeal.

The spatial design of The Scarlett is meticulously planned to create a harmonious and elegant atmosphere. The ceiling, with its elegant arc-shaped linear design, connects the different areas of the space. The master bedroom, with its minimalist and semi-luxury style, features large French windows that provide ample natural light. The curved ceilings and light colors add a soft texture and warm atmosphere to the room.

The interaction within The Scarlett is seamless and intuitive. The design appears simple and fresh on the outside, but the use of rounded corners and other ingenuities adds delicate details. The small segments work together to create a generous and smooth spatial feeling without losing elegance. The white tones of the space reflect the lighting, allowing for future elements to be integrated into the residence. The pure and clear space with a sense of humanity has the power to inspire nobility and artistry in its users.

The Scarlett was completed in March 2021 in Taiwan. The design research behind this project focused on creating a minimalist linear aesthetic in the public areas, enhancing the feeling of spatial flow. Warm-toned wooden storage and display spaces were incorporated into the hallway, showcasing the client's model collection. The use of gold wool system panels and indirect lighting adds an elegant touch to the space.

The design of The Scarlett presented several challenges that were overcome with creativity and technical expertise. The walls of the master bedroom are clad with laminate hard plastic plates, with challenging 5-cm R-angle curved shapes at the corners. The precise balance between curved and straight lines, along with the use of different materials and colors, creates a sense of depth and tranquility in the space.

The Scarlett's structure is surrounded by soft linear elements, reducing visual pressure and creating a more artistic sense. The curved three-dimensional ceiling plays a leading role in the overall design, spreading towards every corner of the residence and adding a refreshingly modern touch. The curved shape of the television wall adds a sense of restraint to the generous-styled interior.

The Scarlett has been recognized for its outstanding design and has been awarded the Iron A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2022. This award is a testament to the well-designed, practical, and innovative nature of The Scarlett, meeting professional and industrial requirements and contributing to a better world.
